The rays of light represent Christ as the light of the world (John 1: 4-14). Christ's crucifixion is illustrated by the cross, and his blood is covering the Earth in atonement for our sin. The flames represent the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. The flames and the smoke also represent a burnt offering to God, which was commanded by God to the Israelites for consecration of the priests before they could begin their ministry, and as atonement for sins (Exodus 29), foreshadowing Christ's ultimate sacrifice (Hebrews 9:1-15).
The door itself is a further illustration of the verses on the back (Revelation 3:19-21 and Matthew 7:7-8) which call us to open ourselves to God, emphasizing the importance of seeking God as well as God seeking us.

The Little Artists

With all the wonderful Spring weather we've been having lately, I decided to let the boys paint outside.
